7th Grade EL Curriculum
EL Components
- Text (novels or nonfiction texts, provided for each student)
- Workbook (provided for each student)
- Most assignments will either be reading from the text or in the workbook. Students are responsible for their own materials. Novels will be returned at the end of the module. If a novel is lost or damaged students are responsible for the cost of the book.
- There are 4 Modules in the 7th Grade Curriculum
- Module 1: Journeys & Survival (A Long Walk To Water by Linda Sue Park)
- Module 2: Working with Evidence: Working Conditions Then & Now (Lyddie by Katherine Paterson)
- Module 3: Slavery: The People Could Fly (Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass)
- Module 4: Screen Time & The Developing Brain (nonfiction articles)
- Major Assignments: 60%
- Minor Assignments: 40%
-EL is designed to provide guided and independent practice of a skill before students are assessed.
- There will be about 6 minor assignments per quarter and about 3 major assignments per quarter. Assessments do not automatically mean a major grade.
